New MSI GT780 and GT680 Gaming Systems
Written by Titus Hoskins
At this year's 2011 CES (Consumer Electronics Show), amid the countless 3D TVs and iPad wannabes we have two new gaming devices from MSI - GT780 and the GT680. These laptops sport the 2nd generation i7 Intel Quad-Core Processors which come under the codename "Sandy Bridge" and if you're keeping track, this is the successor to Nehalem.
These processors offer Hyper-threading and Turbo Boost Technology and can reach CPU clock speeds of 2.2 GHz to 3.4 GHz, with Turbo Boost that goes up to 3.8 GHz. Those high-performance specs are well suited for gaming and MSI does have a solid reputation for producing quality rigs and the GT780 and GT680 will be no exceptions.
While the GT780 is larger with a 17.3-inch widescreen display, compared with the GT680's 15.6-inch smaller one, the 780 is less flashy than the 680. However, both are powerful gaming notebooks with the Nvidia's GeForce GTX 500 or 400 Series graphics cards which are DX 11 ready. The also have dual SSD (Solid State Drive), Dynaudio speakers and MSI's own TDE (Turbo Drive Engine) technology to fully sync your system speeds.
The MSI GT680 will be the first one available to gamers, with shipping starting in late January and will have the starting price of $1,499.99.
