Never Mind - Google Plus Has Been Nuked!

Google's newest entry into the social networking arena has a rather awkward sounding name, but Google+ could prove to be one of the best list building programs to come along in years. What really has many webmasters and online marketers especially excited, are some of the unique features within Google+, which will make building, contacting and sorting your list of contacts extremely easy to do.

First, Google+ has an invite feature which lets you invite people into your social network. Since everyone is clambering to get in, this could be an easy way to build your list of contacts very quickly. At the time of writing, getting into Google+ is a matter of adding your name to the waiting list as Google is testing out the system and limiting access.

However, this only adds to a pent up demand for Google+ and this will make this social network more valuable in the eyes of those trying to get in or join. An exclusive club which (at the moment) is open to only a lucky few does have more of an appeal. This might be a great way to market this thing on Google's part, assuming of course, that there is not a genuine backlog of people waiting to join or that Google with their enormous resources, can't handle a few million members.

Second, the "Circles" feature in this new social network is extremely attractive because it lets you sort your contacts into different circles or groups. You can easily separate your close friends and family from your other online contacts. You can also sort these contacts into different groups such as "buyers who have purchased your products", "top level affiliates" and so on. Grouping prospects and targeting the right segment of your list is very important for the online marketer; Google+ gives you an "in-house" system for accomplishing this feat.

Third, the "Sparks" feature could be an excellent way of finding sites, prospects, and information related to your list or topic. Half the battle in building a successful list is finding the right people who are interested in your topic or area of interest. This feature will spark discussion and offer related venues to those targeted prospects for your list. Besides, effective list building is simply building an involved community around your subject or topic, this is where G+ could really excel.

Fourth, you have several ways to closely communicate with your group of friends or prospects. You have the "Hangouts" feature, which will let you video chat with up to 10 people at once. And you also have the "Huddle" feature which will let you text chat with your friends and contacts. These are all ways to closely build a meaningful relationship with your contacts. This one-on-one or group communication can be an effective way of building those relationships on the web, which is sometimes seen as a cold and distrustful place.

Lastly, it should be mentioned and not taken for granted, that Google+ is a program run by Google. DUH! That's stating the obvious, but many people underestimate or don't realize the enormous "Trust" and "Respect" Google has built up with web users around the world. This loyalty to Google will help you get contacts and build your list more quickly through a program like Google+, simply because it has the Google name and brand. Happy list building!
